Samsung Stereo Plasma Display

Samsung Stereo Plasma Display

Samsung was presenting its 3D-ready (stereo capable) by showing a few games and movies. It works with shutter glasses that synchronize with the TV by infrared (IR). We see in stereo because our eyes see the world from a slightly different perspective. To reproduce this on a TV, a different image is created (by the game, or the movie) for each eye and the TV displays them one after the other. The glasses prevent the right eye from seeing the left image and so on. With a 120Hz TV, each eye can still see a 60Hz movie – not bad at all. To play stereo games, the TV needs to be connected to a computer and requires a special piece of software, for each game, sold for about $4. In the future, you can expect to see broader and less expensive support for stereo games.
